I’m Courtney Lord, an aspiring contemporary realism painter living in Philadelphia.
My work explores the dark undercurrent of American nostalgia. Each scene exists somewhere between devotion and decay, faith and desire. Familiar symbols are stripped of comfort and reimagined as relics of something haunted and unresolved.
I examine the tension between salvation and sin, ordinary and uncanny, through red light and shadow. Working in acrylics, I paint images that linger at the edge of memory, like a half-remembered dream or the final frame of a forgotten film. Asking what’s sacred in a place that’s lost its innocence.
